It Girl: Giovanna Bataglia

Remember this name: G-i-o-v-a-n-n-a. It's like honey rolling off the tongue: Giovaaaaannnnnnaaaaaaa.

(I love this photo. It's like Audrey Hepburn meets Fellini. I wish my jogs looked this faconnable.)

Ms. Bataglia is one of the top five best dressed women in the fashion community (if not the world) and my personal style icon. She's got that cute Audrey Tatou thing going on, without being too twee. She can be totally badass too.  As Editor of L'uomo Vogue, and a former house model for D&G, Gio -- and I can call her that because we're friends ... in my head -- combines classic elegance, spunk, a dash of glamour, and a sprinkle of whimsy. Ha.

All joking aside, I adore how effortlessly she can wear her outfits; she's equally at home in a "Annie Hall" style menswear outfit, or a saccharinely sweet ensemble that would be anyone else look like Strawberry Shortcake. And those legs!

One of my favorite outfits of all time. You can tell she paid close attention to every little aspect of the ensemble: the shoes (those shoes!), the neatly tied scarf, the elbow-length fingerless gloves (where can I buy a pair??), the jersey sweatshirt, and the snakeskin pants all blend together for one seamlessly elegant outfit. God's in the details!

I love how unexpected the fur sleeves are on a pastel peach sheath, even if ruffles are overdone.

The Annie Hall look is one of my FAVORITES. It's so sexy. Slim fits on the pants, shirt, and vest make it very feminine ... I prefer slim-cut menswear on women to actually borrowing clothes from your boyfriend.

I've never been a huge fan of the safari look ... khaki's not my thing. But hot damn, those shoes! Amazing. Singlehandedly rescuing a blah outfit from the refuse pile.

I adore her style; I can identify with what she likes to wear! Such the epitome of effortless chic.

Check out my post if you have a moment. Would love your feedback. I honor all things blue (including Bobbi Brown's new Denim mascara) with my Eiffel 65 "I'm Blue" posting.

Gauche is a collection of my musings on fashion and the beautiful things in life.

I work at a digital magazine in SF, but my dream is be Senior Features Editor at a fashion magazine in New York or London.

In fact, if I had a genie, I'd become a Tina Brown/Carine Roitfeld composite. It's not too much to ask to rule the world, is it?
