Chain Gang

Love's Labour Lost. Vanity Fair posted a fascinating behind-the-scenes article on Mad Men, including luscious photos by Annie Leibovitz and exclusive interviews with Jon Hamm, January Jones, and Matthew Weiner. Graydon Carter scrapped a Mad Men cover in favor of Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett tribute covers, in newsstands now. It was the right decision, but we're still sad Don Draper won't be waiting in our mailbox. [Vanity Fair]

Another Reason to Cross the Pond. Zara unveiled their Fall 2009 collection the same day the lookbook launched online. Balmain-esque jackets, sharp shoulders, and drpaed tulip skirts dominate, while the "downtown" looks favor distressed, acid-wash denim. Very cute. We bet a large number of London fashionistas will be mysteriously calling "sick" today. [Grazia]

Blair, Is That You? Why, Glenda Bailey? Why did you have to turn cute-as-a-button Leighton Meester into a ghoulish older version of herself? If you've ever wanted to see Leighton Meester as a seventy-year-old, then head on over to Harper's Bazaar. [Fashionista]

Have a Betty Draper Moment

Anyone who watches Mad Men can tell you, much like Sex and the City during its heyday, the plot comes second only to the luscious clothes. If you've ever wanted to dress like Joan, Betty, or Peggy, now you can! AMC unveiled an awesome new feature: create an realistic avatar, dress her (or him) up like your favorite character, and insert into a scene from Mad Men. (Martinis, pearls, and cigarettes are included, of course. They've even got Joan's pen necklace.) Props to the AMC marketing team: first, we found that sexy promo poster for Mad Men featuring Don Draper, cool as a cucumber, sitting in his office as the flood waters rise ... and now this. At least, waiting for Season 3 to premiere will pass a little faster now. [Fashionista]

Meet Bijani

Gauche is a collection of my musings on fashion and the beautiful things in life.

I work at a digital magazine in SF, but my dream is be Senior Features Editor at a fashion magazine in New York or London.

In fact, if I had a genie, I'd become a Tina Brown/Carine Roitfeld composite. It's not too much to ask to rule the world, is it?
